Introduction

I'm never created a blog before, so I apologize in advance for anything I may mess up. Hopefully, by the time we title, I'll have the blogging down straight!

Anyways, my overall goal of this blog will be to follow my journey to IPO1 with a current Doberman Pinscher I am training named Argo. He is the handsome 2yo Czech import pictured above, and has had some training previous to me working with him. He's had fairly inconsistent training throughout his life, so it is my attempt to clear some things up for him as well as teach him exercises that he has yet to encounter. Within the next year, I hope to have grown as a team with him, and before "moving on", my goal is to have an IPO1 and PSA-PDC.

We are trialing for his BH on December 15th. Thus far, he's had no tracking training, so I have my work cut out for me this winter. I plan on updating this blog regularly with videos of our progress, problems, and solutions.

Things to accomplish/improve:
  • BH title
  • Finish blind search as a part of obedience
  • Retrieve
  • Send out/Voraus
  • Tracking
  • Article Indication
I have quite the list to accomplish. His blind search is coming along, but it is a bit hit or miss. If I was accepting the act of running around the blind, without looking into it, he would be finished with the blind search. However, I am preparing him to run 6 blinds with actually checking each one tightly and sufficiently. Any shortcuts I take now will end up hurting me in the long run. Especially so if he is with me long enough to go for his SchH 2 and 3.  I have also begun the voraus or send out, but have not devoted much time to this. So far, I have been simply sending him to the ball, while working on random and sporadic downs at other times in our training. The videos I get for the tracking and retrieve will be showing a completely blank slate as I have not touched on these yet. We will see how this goes!
